4 summer styles for the beach
Come summer, there’s one thing on everyone’s mind: cooling down. Since the AC is often an extreme solution, most of us like to have refreshing drinks, spend time in the shade, and, most effectively, play with water. Whether it’s swimming or just a water fight, what you definitely need in summer is a proper swimsuit and the right sunglasses to protect your eyes. And don’t forget to carry sunscreen with you at all times as well!
Swimwear doesn’t seem like much of an art: you get a suit that fits your shape and taste and you’re done. We beg to differ: some accessorizing never hurt anyone, and it’s not all that easy to find something that perfectly fits your fashion sense. So we picked four different styles, out of which we think you’ll find a favorite: nautical, sexy, romantic and retro. Which one is more you?

Perfect for any age and for every summer, nautical style is timeless and classic. Of course, we’re gonna give it a twist, since we’re all fashionistas of the 21st century here. The Yves Saint Laurent swimsuit comes in a spectacular design: a bandeau top and a high waisted bottom, connected through an anchor, which ties around the neck. Could it get any more navy-chic than that? Wear it with a striped tote bag for the beach, and elegant, round and oversized Emilio Pucci sunglasses.

If you’re feeling flirty or you just want to strut your stuff, try a sexy monokini like the one from Just Cavalli. Printed like butterfly wings and with lateral cut-outs, it makes your waist look tiny. Elongate your legs with platforms and add a bit of “foxy” with a pair of metal and plastic Yves Saint Laurent sunglasses. Beware: this look will probably make you the center of attention in any circle.

If you’re not bold enough for a monokini, perhaps romantic style is your cup of tea. We love the ruffles and florals two piece swimsuit from Zimmermann, and found that it would be perfectly complemented by a pair of floral Dolce&Gabbana sunglasses. The pastel colors will make you seem more tanned than you really are! For extra protection on the beach, you’re gonna do well with a straw hat, which is lightweight and so useful.

For the nostalgic ladies, we figure retro style is the best option. Think Marilyn Monroe or Brigitte Bardot, and channel their style with a polka dot two piece from J. Crew. The color combo is beach-ready, and the string at the bottom helps you adjust it to your own waist. We find that it looks adorable with cat eye shaped shades, so the Tory Birch sunglasses appeared like a perfect option. For a complete look, put on cherry earrings – rockabilly all the way – and enjoy your summer!
